As a small business, Stafford would no longer be a place I could call my home. I will be forced to move my business out of Stafford to another state or a more friendly business environment. As a resident of Stafford, it feels like the vice is getting tighter upon us homeowners with minimal changes to the community to show for it.

I strongly oppose Stafford County’s proposed BPOL tax. I started my company in October 2020 and have worked hard to survive rising costs, economic uncertainty, and the daily challenges of operating a small business. Taxing gross receipts is unfair because revenue is not profit. Small businesses already carry the burden of payroll, insurance, materials, debt, and operating expenses. Stafford should support local businesses, not make it harder for us to survive, grow, hire, and invest.

Small businesses and sole proprietorships never recovered from COVID closurse, and BPOL would be an added burden. Every Stafford resident/patron would be affected, as the tax would be passed on to customers.

I operate a business that was started by my father 75+ years ago. The amount of taxes paid is staggering!! Lets see... what do we already pay...business real estate tax, business property tax, business advertising tax, business trash tax, business fire safety tax, business vehicle tax, fuel tax, tax, tax, tax!! Anyone for a tea party?!? SoOOoo, no new taxes!!! Use what you get more wisely! As my Grandfather would say, being careful with what you have matters more than how much you can get.

We are already taxed to excess!! My property taxes have gone up 56% in 5 years which is ridiculous. My house payment has almost doubled since I bought my house in 2009. Unbelievable.

This will drive up costs for both businesses and consumers and will likely drive some businesses out of the county. Stafford county has gone tax increase crazy. It's time it stopped and its time to vote every board member that has supported these record high tax increased out of office.

I am a small business owner and have lived in the county for over 35+ years. Costs have been increasing constantly. With all the talk about the income from new data centers in our county, l find it ironic that there is still not enough revenue to run things, and now in addition to business property taxes, we have to pay taxes on our gross income, even if we sustain a loss for the year. It truly defies common sense and makes the county anything but business friendly...

Both individuals and businesses are being taxed out of Stafford County. I am a life long resident, but my husband and I are seriously considering leaving because of the uncontrolled taxes and the amount of data centers being approved.
