I only live in Stafford because I visit the few small businesses that exist. If these businesses shut down due to an increase on taxes- there will be no reason to stay here. There are no other benefits to this town. Do not impose this tax.

If Stafford is truly “open for business”, this is not a demonstration of such. Businesses are already absorbing costs (supplies, transportation, etc) - everything has gone up in price, this shouldn’t be an added burden.

At the end of the day every tax put on a business is passed on to is the consumer. Enough is enough learn how to cut back on spending our property taxes have gone up 57% over the last couple of years and now this.

This proposed tax comes on top of a high local tax burden. Over the past 5 years, Stafford property owners have seen steep real estate tax increases driven by rising rates/reassessments. With the reassessments and higher real estate tax bills, rising personal property taxes and living costs, local families are being priced out of their homes.
Stafford’s Board should support small businesses and hard-pressed residents through fiscal restraint.

As a former small business owner, I strongly oppose the proposed Business, Professional, and Occupational License (BPOL) tax.
This tax unfairly targets gross receipts rather than net profit. Businesses are taxed on total revenue regardless of overhead, supply chain inflation, or whether they actually turn a profit. For small businesses operating on thin margins, taxing revenue rather than earnings threatens their ability to keep doors open and staff employed.

I am a super, small, arts center in only my 3rd year in business and this tax would kill my community. I barely get by now as a small business and have yet to turn any real net profit from our programming. This tax would make it impossible to survive. Please DO NOT allow this to happen.

I have owned a small business in Stafford County for many years. Our taxes keep rising on all items from personal property to real estate. It seems like pure greed from Stafford County since our taxes are higher than most counties in VA. I'm sure the large corporations in Stafford such as Walmart, Target and soon Buccees to name a few will not endure this tax but all the small businesses will be effected making it even harder for the small mom and pop shops to operate in Stafford County.
