Although Starlink’s technology is right now unbeatable in terms of spotless coverage, internet speed and as a game changer for the safety at sea, the new plan is far too expensive for many sailors. We have to quit Starlink if there will be such a price increase!

Starlink is what most sailors who cruise the world rely on to stay connected with family and friends back home, and to access important news and weather information. Most cruisers live on a tight budget and this sudden steep cost increase is out of reach for many. It will likely discourage new sailors from investing in the equipment in the first place, with such high monthly costs and frequent unpredictable plan changes. Please reconsider a more fair pricing plan for global roam.

We are a family with small kids and safety is the main important thing for us. For checking weather conditions and route planing and also to stay in contact with other families, we need to have internet on board. But for a family with kids is Starlink very expensive. But the only thing wich works. Thank you for starting this petition.

Starlink ist a simple way to stay in touch with the world. I could again buy simcards around the world, but i prefer to stay with starlink - when the pricing is reasonable.

The price doubles for the monthly fee and triples for ocean data, that is killing our low budget sailing trip. Please, consider halving the monthly fee!

Starlink is vital safety equipment for cruisers, providing essential GRIB weather updates, storm tracking, route planning, and emergency comms in remote waters. Recent price jumps ($100 to ~$180/mo; $2/GB to $6/GB ocean data) make staying safely connected unaffordable for non-commercial sailors. Please offer a lower-tier plan—even throttled at 10 Mbps—so we can maintain safe, budget-friendly connectivity.

I subscribed in the U.S., so the monthly increase is just $10 US dollars, but the Ocean Mode cost is a 3X increase from $2 to $6 per GB.

I'm about to embark on a round-the-world voyage on my sailboat. The only practical way to access urgently needed, reliable weather information is via Starlink internet. I won't be able to afford the business plan "Global Priority 50 GB" at €250 per month, as I'm traveling purely for pleasure and not conducting any business on board. Starlink's private plans are unsuitable for world travelers due to unrealistic geographical and temporal limitations. I need an affordable private internet plan.

I'm part of that group of sailors that live on the boat on very low budget and are thousand times less rich than Elon Musk.

Starlink is the only connection to our family and to crucial weather and security information. We are travellers equal to RVs, just on the water, and many of us with small budgets, no superyachts. We hope Starlink keeps the service reasonable, a tripling in costs all of a sudden would be a huge challenge for many of us sailors. If Elon Musk wants to find out what life on a small sailboat is all about, he is warmly welcome….😉

Directly affected. Starlink is great but in the 18 months we have it now our roam unlimited has gone up from 72 to nearly 100 euros and there’s no end to changes and debates around plans. If a telecom should provide anything it’s stability and continuity. For us the new plan is not as viable option.

Also considering theat the current personal maritime is only for boat up to 40 ft, Thia is an advantage for catamarans but a huge disadvantage for monohull. A 40 fr catamaran has more surface of a 50 ft monohull.. It’s very common for monohull to be between 45 to 55 feet .. thia should be considered as it penalises the majority of grey nomad cruisers

I am ok with the personal maritime plan except that most boats that travel the Bahamas are over 40 ft. Maybe another threshold. Most pleasure boats are between 45 and 60 ft.

Access for sailors to good communications makes sailing a lot safer for everyone.
