Idaho's Ada/Eage Bike Park is Under Threat!
Idaho’s Ada/Eagle Bike Park, near Boise, is more than a neighborhood park. It is a valued public recreation destination attracting mountain bikers, BMX riders, families, and outdoor enthusiasts from the Treasure Valley and beyond.
Now, approximately 7.4 acres of this public parkland are proposed for conversion into a municipal maintenance and firefighter training complex, including:
● An 18,340-square-foot building
● A municipal vehicle maintenance and storage yard
● A 38.5-foot live-fire training tower
● Operations adjacent to recreational trails and within a few hundred feet of nearby homes
Yet important questions remain unanswered.
Community members have raised concerns about smoke, prevailing winds, water impacts, traffic, pedestrian safety, and the adequacy of the City’s evaluation of alternative sites. We have not identified comprehensive studies addressing these concerns in the public record.
This Land Was Set Aside for Recreation
In 2016, Ada County conveyed this parkland to the City of Eagle for public park and recreational purposes and associated services.
That commitment matters.
Once public recreational land is converted to municipal maintenance and training operations, restoring its original recreational use may be extremely difficult.
We support our firefighters and municipal workers and recognize their need for appropriate facilities. But we believe the City should fully evaluate potential impacts and alternative locations before committing established parkland to these uses.
What We Are Asking
We urge the Eagle City Council to reconsider its decision, complete the necessary impact assessments, thoroughly evaluate alternative sites, and address how the park’s recreational purpose and existing trail network will be protected.
We invite local residents, park users, and everyone interested in the future of public recreational land to make their views known.

Help Fund the Effort
Residents have established a GoFundMe campaign to cover City filing fees and an independent legal review of a Request for Reconsideration.
The filing deadline is approaching, making timely support particularly important.

Thank you for helping ensure that the future of the Ada/Eagle Bike Park receives the careful consideration it deserves.
This is an assault on a peaceful and recreational sanctuary. A two-story, 18,000 sq ft building, replete with smoke from practice fires, smell and downright anti-aesthetic scenery directly intrudes on the park environment. Consider the area beyond Goose Creek Lane beyond the new methane plant that was once a law enforcement firing range. Above all, not where it can be seen and resented by all who pass by. That's not progress.
