The Peperbus, an iconic little building in Fraserburg, was designed by the first Parson of the Dutch Reformed Church, established in 1851.  There are a number of heritage buildings belonging to the Karoo Highlands Municipality. These include the Old Paronage [1855], the armory called the Kruithuis [1870] and the Pepperpot or "Peperbus" built in 1861.  They are National Heritage buildings.

The icon of Fraserburg, the Perperbus, is now showing serious signs of deterioration and unless restoration action is taken, will soon start to fall apart.  It is a piece of architecture not found anywhere else in South Africa.  The Municipality has already budgeted for the maintenance of the it's heritage buildings. We request that these funds be also applied to the restoration of the Peperbus.

A few private individuals repaired the building in the past. Time that the munisipality do their part.
