Church is suppose to be about community and bringing people together. St. Peter’s is a shadow of what it used to be. Shame on you! Very sad at a time we should be growing a community.

The CYO basketball program offers the community opportunities to connect, exercise and enhance bonds with each other in and out of our town. How could anyone or institution not want to continue something that provides so many positives?

So sad to hear St Peter’s has made the decision to end a program that has brought generations of Pacifica kids and families together, built friendships, taught teamwork and sportsmanship. Thank you to those who are leading the effort to get answers and figure out a way for the program to continue.

My 7th grade Grandson was so looking forward to the CYO Basketball season as I'm sure so many other kids were. He has been playing since 3rd grade and now they are taking it away. It's not like the church pays for them to play - the parents pay ! PLEASE KEEP THE CYO PROGRAM FOR OUR KIDS !

Let. Them. Play. Cabrillo appears to be the public school in San Mateo County whose children are barred from Interscholastic sports, particularly at the middle school level. St. Peters served as a crucial stopgap to lessen the disparity. Shutting down St. Peters further drives kids outside the Linda Mar Valley for the most basic services: the right to play.

We cannot continue to lose sports for kids and connections to our churches. Especially St. Peter’s of Pacifica

The youth basketball program at St. Peters is so much more than just a sport. It gives our children and families a place to build relationships, experience belonging, and grow together in faith. Programs like this are an important part of creating strong, connected faith community that a parish is meant to foster.

As a community, especially as a parish, it is important we have these sports programs available to our local youth. Sports are integral in shaping young minds by creating an environment that teaches individuals how to work and communicate as a team, towards one common goal. I would like to stand firmly rooted in knowing the church supports this effort for children but also contributes to guiding them as they grow into adults.

We are incredibly disappointed for our son and in the decision making process. this program has been a Pacifica staple for generations and an opportunity for the church to show their love for the community. it would be a huge let down for Pacifica's if this isn't figured out

I am signing this petition because closing this program will take away our children’s chances to play sports. Club sports are not affordable by a lot of families. Children should not be ineligible to play sports based on their parents income. St. Peter’s was available to children of all backgrounds. This program is improtant to our children.

The CYO basketball program was a huge part of our son’s life; first playing and then coaching. These positive programs are a vital part of our children’s lives and an integral part of our community. Please reconsider discontinuing this program

CYO is arguably one of the best youth sports programs in Pacifica outside of Little League

This is devastating for the children and families of Pacifica. 70 years of providing a space for all children regardless of their skill a space to gather, belong, and be part of something bigger than “just” basketball, you were a part of a community- a bigger family! We are heart broken.
