The joy that the program has given me and my family over the years, cannot be measured in words. All three of my kids played, and I coached them and also other teams with other people‘s kids. It is one of so many things that make Pacifica so special as a community.

This Parrish community has been systematically dismantled by its pastor over the last several years. What is the church without its people? During this time when the Catholic Church is struggling to bring people in, this parrish is shutting down the activities that brought the Pacifica Community together. Please don’t take this away from the kids.

The entire community is behind this team. Why was an arbitrary decision made to the detriment of the children? Funds raised and parents happily have agreed to pay the fees, why is the church shutting the community out and then confiscating their money? Why won’t Father Foley provide the necessary answers to families and communities, where are the CYO Funds?

St Peter CYO has been around the 40 years my family has been in Pacifica and doing decades of volunteering and donating to a number of causes with this Church. It would be atrocious to see CYO shut down leaving so many children lost. I understand the need to drop certain community items over the years…but with so many adults wanting to drop this program, you’d think they could brainstorm a substitute way for the children. Maybe Boys and Girls club sports brought back, school sports for all.

My daughter loves playing basketball and her coach. We live in the back of the valley and she would love to play with her team again. This will be a huge disappointment. I’m not sure where else she could play local basketball.

My 3 children and countless nieces and nephews played in this program over the last 4 decades. The experiences were so important and invaluable towards their development and gave them a sense of community and pride. To discontinue this program would be a huge loss to the community.

St. Peter’s CYO Basketball is more than just a sports program. It is a tradition that has brought generations of families together, built lifelong friendships, and taught our children teamwork, discipline, faith, and community. Ending this program takes away an opportunity for our kids.
Let the kids play!

I was part of the very first girls basketball team approx 50 years ago. Both my daughters and my son played as well as many family members I know personally. It’s been a great program for years. It is such a wonderful youth organization for the children of this town. If another youth program or activity is cut what do you expect the children of this community to do? I implore whomever the powers are to rethink shutting down the CYO basketball youth program.
