There are so many more road improvements needed in Encinitas like safe paths along Vulcan between La Costa and Leucadia Blvd, along the south side of Leucadia Blvd west of the freeway, both sides of La Costa Blvd west of the freeway just to name a few. Fix the problems on Santa Fe, don’t start over and remove everything.

As someone who lives near Santa Fe Dr, I walk and ride my bike on the street many times per week. I like the improvements and feel safer on this street now. In my observations, the design appears to be working well. The City of Encinitas should use available budget to improve more streets in a similar manner rather than wasting money to fight in court or rebuild Santa Fe Dr.

Deeply disappointed in the current Council's pettiness and flippant attitude regarding millions of taxpayer $. Sante Fe is safer than before and needs only minor changes. Let's vote these guys out in November.

I bike through this section of Encinitas all the time. Having narrower car lanes has slowed traffic some and the protected bike lanes help me feel more safe. Stop wasting taxpayer dollars!

Just yesterday I was riding the #304 bus eastward on Santa Fe and missed my stop, the next one leaving me on El Camino Real. Rather than go quite a bit out of my way on foot, I chose to walk up Santa Fe westward from El Camino Real, and sincerely hope I never find myself in what felt like the dangerous position of needing to do that again. Please prioritize improvements on the eastern stretch of Santa Fe to make it pedestrian- and bike-friendly.

The lives of pedestrians and cyclists are already endangered by the size and speed of vehicles on our streets. This protected bike lane has finally improved quality of life for residents of Santa Fe Dr., especially children.

When I was a student at San Dieguito, I saw a fellow cross country runner get hit by a car at the Santa Fe / Nardo intersection. A protected intersection at that location would have prevented that kind of crash. Unfortunately, that key part of the project was canceled by our city council. I don't want to see progress reverse and our streets get more dangerous, especially around schools. We should be finishing the Santa Fe project, not ripping it out!

I drive the corridor regularly and haven't had any issues with the new layout. I move through in my car at a reasonable speed. And I appreciate a separation between cars and bikes.

As a Cardiff resident who uses this thoroughfare regularly via bike & car, I really appreciate the safety components, parking access, and general reduced pace brought about by the redesign. There are definitely improvements that can be made, like assisting visibility when exiting driveways off Santa Fe, but we are absolutely moving in the right direction.

I ride my bicycle around Encinitas, and now feel safer on Santa Fe Drive. There are unfunded priorities to enhance safety and quality of life - focus on these, not on a project that is working.

I live a stones throw north of Santa Fe Dr and am walking and cycling much more because I feel much safer with this current design. The City's Senior Engineer presented a table of the most dangerous streets in our city. Santa Fe didnt make the top 30 list. We need our tax dollars to be invested in making the following most dangerous locations safer: Encinitas Blvd, El Camino Real and Hwy 101

As a nearby resident, I have been greatly relieved by the redesign of Santa Fe beginning to tame reckless traffic and improve safety conditions for walkers, bikers, pets, and 2000 young students. I am eager to see the project retained and expanded with measures to halt 40mph+ driving especially on the downhill. A midblock traffic signal in front of the school would save lives and prevent bottlenecks approaching the I-5 entrances. Slowing drivers down helps prevent stress illness too.

There are too many unfunded higher priority needs in Encinitas to keep throwing our money away on this impasse.

Growing up and still living within a block of Santa Fe Drive makes it easy to express how much better it is now. #improvedontremove
