PETITION FOR THE PRESERVATION AND REOPENING OF EAST AFRICA RACKET SPORTS CLUB (EARSC)
To:
The Leadership of Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club and All Relevant Stakeholders
We, the undersigned members, athletes, sports enthusiasts, and supporters of the East Africa Racket Sports Club (EARSC), respectfully call upon all stakeholders to work together to preserve this important sporting facility and facilitate its prompt reopening.
EARSC has become one of Tanzania's leading centres for pickleball and padel, bringing together thousands of players, families, and visitors while promoting health, recreation, tourism, and international sporting excellence. Its closure has disrupted a thriving sporting community and affected countless members who rely on the Club as a place to play, compete, and connect.
We acknowledge that legal and contractual matters exist between the parties. However, we respectfully urge that these issues be resolved through constructive dialogue, good-faith negotiations, and respect for the rule of law, with the shared objective of reopening EARSC as quickly as possible.
We therefore call upon all stakeholders to:
Engage in constructive and good-faith discussions to reach an amicable resolution.
Take all reasonable steps to facilitate the immediate reopening of EARSC.
Preserve and protect the Club's facilities, reputation, and contribution to sport in Tanzania.
Prioritise the interests of the thousands of players, families, and community members affected by the closure.
Safeguard the legacy of Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club and EARSC for current and future generations.
This petition is a peaceful expression of public support for the preservation and reopening of EARSC. It is intended to encourage cooperation, dialogue, and a positive resolution that serves the best interests of the sporting community and the public.
Together, let us preserve the legacy of Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club and EARSC—for sport, for community, and for future generations.

EARSC is more than just a sports club. It is a second home where friendships have been built, families have connected, and a vibrant pickleball and padel community has flourished. People of all ages and backgrounds come together here through a shared love of the game, creating a welcoming space filled with respect, inclusion, and friendship. I hope this incredible community can continue to thrive and return to the place so many of us proudly call home.
EARSC is more than a place but a facility created for gathering communities to come together to improve their health, mental well-being, and build social connections in a safe environment. EARSC is an important community asset that aims to promote a culture of sports and recreational platform for all ages and attract Sports Tourism in TZ for both Pickle & Padel. Preserving this beautiful facility means a sustainable future for the next generations in seeking their goals in the area of sports.
EARSC has provided me with a new inspiration to continue playing sports by playing Pickleball after I could no longer continue with tennis and I surrendered my Gymkhana membership around 2012 after 40 years. EARSC organises many exciting international tournaments which provides us with such fantastic thrilling spectacle of international standard at our door-step. Gymkhana Club should embrace growth of sports in Tanzania and not hinder it.
EARSC is not only a club, it has become a beautiful community that has always warmly welcomed anyone who walks through their gate. We need EARSC to continue to provide a place for the public to learn, grow, enjoy and excel in pickleball and padel.
The club has been a wonderful partner to our Lions Club, having hosted two pickleball fundraising tournaments that supported our charitable initiatives. Beyond that, it has built a strong, inclusive community that comes together, supports one another, and contributes positively to society.
EARSC gave me a purpose, community, new friends and healthy lifestyle. C
We all love going to EARSC and enjoy

I believe EARSC has done a great job in introducing Pickleball & Padel to the Dar community. I have been a member of Gymkhana club for over 40 years & believe the current Gymkhana club management should mediate & settle their dispute with EARSC in the greater interest of promoting sports activity in our country.
