The Douglass community has been so important to our family. Since relocating from out of state, the Douglass community has been like family to us. They have been welcoming, kind, dedicated, and loving. Our kids have always thrived at the school. Mr. Wolfer and the entire staff of teachers and other professionals have exceeded our expectations beyond any other school we have seen. We are hopeful that our Douglass family can continue to stay strong.

We’ve had three children at Douglass over the course of 12 years. The staff, community and education are unmatched. It’s also our neighborhood school and why we moved here although we have friends who’ve open enrolled, too join this special community. Douglass is our family, please do not tear it apart. BVSD is better than that. We would do anything to support a continuation of the school for current and future families and for the staff.

All three of our children graduated from Douglass. The community network and staff and family relationships are decades in the making and have contributed to the success of Douglass. Dissolving the school and dismantling the community, friendships and support system is not only cruel but traumatic to every student attending Douglass at this time.

Disperse Community Montessori if that school needs to close- but moving High Peaks to Douglas and dispersing our kids is a clear playing of favorites and the whole plan is unnecessarily disruptive!

Douglass is an amazing school with a great campus, dedicated teachers and staff, and it's a community institution. Closing it in favor of other schools with badly aging buildings, lower enrollment, and fewer amenities than Douglass is ludicrous. This should be stopped and reevaluated.

Douglass is a successful school as evidenced by the high number of open enrollments, and when including the open enrollment the school is near or at capacity (which the analysis ignores). If Douglass closes many of the students will be forced to go to school in three different cities (elementary in Louisville, middle in boulder, high school in Lafayette) - which is incredibly disruptive and damaging to our children and community.

They are eliminating a really well performing neighborhood school, in exchange of a focus program. They expect the students to transfer to a school which facilities are a hazard with the excuse of increasing their enrollment but Douglass has a better enrollment numbers by far. Douglass has been teaching the neighborhood students for generations and they’re community is amazing. This radical change is benefiting no one, we were completely blindsided by this decision.

We want the Boulder Valley School District to reconsider the proposal and Vote NO at the upcoming meeting in order to slow the process and allow for additional & needed due diligence and proper phased management of school students and staff.
