Access to the rear of Boxmoor station was agreed for those able to prove residency on the south side of the tracks and is after all why it is there. Mike Penning MP discussed the impact of closing the rear access and a card entry system was put in place. There is no safety issue the fast train platform is protected by a gate that shouks be locked but rarely is.

I have lived on Roughdown Avenue for 30 years. I chose this location for safe, direct station access via the rear gate. Closing it forces residents onto a busy road and an unlit, uneven path, creating unnecessary safety risks, especially at night.

The alternative route proposed is unsafe due to the narrow path under the bridge, particularly when navigating with small children, pushchairs or for elderly or disabled people. There has been no public consultation in a decision that will impact many.

We use the back gate to access the station to avoid walking across a busy road with no crossing and a very narrow pavement in places. I have never seen anyone trying to tailgate their way through the back gate and it has never been left open in all the years I've used it (since it was installed).

I bought my house in Sheethanger Lane because of the close proximity to the Station the rear entrance of which enabled me to walk to the station without using a public road. I was issued with a pass as an annual season ticket when the electronic gate was originally installed and although I no longer travel daily by train the continued use of the card enables me to use the station without having to park in the crowded car park or walk on the much longer route via Felden Lane and London Road.

As others have said, this is an arbitrary decision taken with no consultation or details provided as to the safety concerns. It shows complete disregard for local residents who currently make authorised use of the gate.

This back gate has been accessible to local residents for over 35 years and for us is the safest way to reach the station rather than via the narrow pathway under the railway tunnel on the London road.

Completely disagree that this is an unsafe route for travel. Other routes at the rear of the access are treacherous. There has been no communication or consultation offered, with little to no notice period on implementation.

I have two boys that go to college in Watford, platform 1 is fenced off from the fast train. The tunnel where the pathway thins against the A4251 is dangerous.

Agree with keeping this open as London Road is dangerous under the bridge and the ‘safety reason’ has not been explained. In five plus years I’ve been using this no issues at all.
