We are talking of unmet expectations. When one chooses to study at the University of Nairobi, an Institute that brags of being ISO certified, we have expectations. One of them being fair administration of law. We expect fairness. What really informed the recent fee hike? Simply put, the move is unconstitutional as such the directive to hike school fees should be impeached

My parents already struggle paying my fee. They even considered transferring me to another institution but couldn't because of the transcript being unavailable. So a further hike and an unclear few structure will be strenuous on them. I'm not an only child as well. There's others who also need to be funded. Consider this!!!

The increased fees without any meaningful representation or increase in the quality of service delivery is quite saddening. To top it all off, we have only received results of 3 units out of a total of 15 units while other cohorts have up to 8 .

Fee policy should be informed by evidence: enrolment trends, price sensitivity,
competitor pricing, student retention, programme-level profitability, facility utilisation and the longterm lifetime value of attracting students to the institution. Affordability should therefore be part of the university's competitive strategy. Education should feel
like an opportunity that is within reach, not a privilege increasingly reserved for those who can
absorb rising crisis.

A standard fee structure cannot just be altered as the administration pleases.
