We want all stray dogs removed from the streets of Salt Lake, Kolkata, with proper vaccination and shelter, so residents can walk safely and live without fear. Across India, dog bites happen far too often every year, and many people still do not get proper vaccination in time. That is a serious public safety concern, and it is especially troubling when communities are left with no clear protection.

The situation in Salt Lake has become difficult for residents. Stray dogs on the streets create fear and make it hard to move around safely, especially after 9pm. Families, older people, children, workers, and anyone returning home at night should not have to worry about danger on their own streets. Human lives are important, and public spaces must be safe for everyone.

We also note that the Honorable Supreme Court ordered that stray dogs are to be removed from the streets, vaccinated, and sheltered properly. That direction must be carried out in a responsible way that protects both people and the animals. We are not asking for cruelty. We are asking for action, safety, and accountability.

There must be some solution to this. We ask the authorities to remove stray dogs from Salt Lake streets, arrange proper vaccination and shelter, and ensure that those who care for stray dogs help by taking 5–6 stray dogs into their respective houses if they are able to do so. Our community deserves safe streets and a humane, practical solution now.
