I saw some wonderful shows there, and consider The Bottom Line to be part of the fabric of New York City. It should be recognized and remembered.

Everyone who attended, every time felt welcomed and appreciated by Allan Pepper, Stanley Snadowski and the artists who performed for that audience that night.

The Bottom Line was a huge part of introducing different kind of artists to the community . People practically grew up with it and made it a part of their regular routine go-to place because they knew they would always see a great show.

Because the Bottom Line is everything that was iconic about Manhattan. (And I'm not saying that because I performed there a dozen times....)

I saw Kris Kristofferson there several times. Johnny Cash was in the audience and surprised us by coming on stage. I also saw other shows. Such a great place. It is a shame when I walk by it now and all it is an NYU space that does not have any recognition that it was the Bottom Line.

The Bottom Line nurtured Rockapella’s career (even pre-Carmen Sandiego) with many double bills with our idols, The Persuasions, hosted by Vin Scelsa. We split a bill with The Bacon Brothers and Kiera Sedgewick told me a I had a voice she could fall in love with. Hell, Keith Richards saw us there! When I went solo and then founded The GrooveBarbers, Allan was so supportive. He and The Bottom Line defined “listening room”, and I’ll be forever be nostalgic about the corner of 4th and Mercer.

The Bottom Line brought every music artist that mattered to a 450 seat room. From Dolly Parton to Patti Smith, Springsteen to Johnny Cash, Billy Cobham to Buster Poindexter. My living room for nearly 30 years. The best club in NYC.

The Bottom Line was iconic venue that booked all types of music including all the new music coming out of the UK, downtown music scene as well as future superstars. It was the heart and sould of the village. I saw Sonny Rollins (2x) , Rory Gallagher , Elvis Costello, The Police , Blue Oyster Cult, David Johansen, John Mayall & The Tubes.
