How can you have a valedictorian the previous year and then all of a sudden stop. If you are going to take away achievements and accomplishments it should be gradual and a mutual decision. I don’t know who decided it was a good idea. But why change it now.

Valedictorian recognition honors years of hard work, discipline, and academic achievement. Removing that recognition, especially when students have spent years working toward it, feels unfair and discouraging. These students deserve to have their accomplishments recognized and celebrated.

I go this school and am currently a senior. I think it is important for everyone to see what hard work can get you and to encourage others to try they’re best.

Class of '69. I never won, but believe this honor should stay intact.

Because I believe it’s worth revisiting to have an open discussion and maybe come up with a reasonable and acceptable change of policy to make it more accessible and available for all students to have the opportunity to receive Val/Sal

When students fill out college applications it asks the student their class rank. Being valedictorian or salutatorian could be the difference of a scholarship or not. In this situation “everyone does not get an award or prize, it’s earned”

It is important to have competition and be recognized for valued achievements. Being a valedictorian is a great honor for hard work. My understanding is that it was dismissed because a lot of kids in sports might not be able but that is the point. Make choices to be able to achieve. If you want this goal make it a goal and achieve it. Don’t take it away because not everyone can do it. Everyone shouldn’t be able to do it. That’s the point.
