I think it is important to reward hard work. I know my daughter worked harder at certain things when there was a "competition".

So we are taking away the Valadictorian/Salutitorian honors so that the kids who didn't earn this don't get their feelings hurt or experience too much pressure? I don't understand this concept. Life lesson: not everyone can come in first place. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. That's life. Honor those with the top GPA's.

All young adults should have the right to win one of these awards after studying so hard. To be number one and two in school is not an easy feat and if there is no national society it should also be in play. This gives are young something to work for.
