Going beyong HOA's, if there is a management company that collects the dues, etc. they are raising their fees when a home is sold. They are charging crazy fees to transfer ownership from the original owner to the new owner. Something also needs to be done about this also.

We have a rogue HOA Board who refuses to follow by-laws and articles of incorporation. They unilaterally make up rules, change voting methods and voting thresholds to pass things the way they want. On one hand we are told homeowners have rights but on the other hand there is no means available to protect those rights if one can't afford the high cost necessary to hire an attorney to enforce those rights. Prisoners confined in State Idaho prison have more rights and opportuities than homeowners.

So frustrating to be harassed about minor weeds, while neighbors have dilapidated fences and box trucks that never move. The arbitrary and overly petty implementation just sucks the life out of the place where real people live.

First off. I don't want to live in an HOA. However that is no longer possible they have been put in place everywhere and finding a home outside of one is unrealistic. The amount of pettiness, corruption, and insufferable living conditions that often comes with HOAs needs to be curbed and have real consequences for those who abuse power and are a general nuisance to society.

For 9 years we had an out of control HOA Board. They fined homeowners and in some cases they put a lien on their home. Others have moved because of HOA. They change the bylaws without a community vote.

If you leave your garage door open by mistake, you will get a letter. If your camper, trailer is left in your driveway more than 72 hours, you will get a letter.
Mistakes happen and life isn't always on your time frame.

In the 10 years that I've lived here, our HOA finally held a meeting this summer! Legally, it should be yearly. I just discovered we have an HOA board. Never knew any of this. They've apparently been on the board for YEARS! We pay our dues but don't see much evidence of how the money is spent. It all seems so shady and mismanaged to me
