I survived through men setting fire to my room and stealing my personal items, as well as hitting me. I was raped by a family member and couldn’t get justice. She was just defending herself. She was in fight or flight mode. Men are scary. There is a recent article stating that statistically men are more likely to be mean once they isolate a woman. I was raped at 11 years old and couldn’t do anything about it. So I sign today to help her. She has a daughter that can speak up for her and loves her

We live in a world where rapists and abusers get a slap on the wrist for the most heinous crimes a person can commit. DV isn’t taken seriously by law enforcement. Women are constantly told there’s “nothing to be done” unless they’re actively getting attacked when they show up. Nothing is done until they are already dead. And when a woman is forced to fight back and defend herself against her abuser and would be murderer, she gets the book thrown at her. It’s disgusting and wrong. Free Susan.

Susan Brown has already served 23 years for something she shouldn’t have been convicted for in the first place. Nobody should be in that prison in Ypsilanti - Huron Valley is full of black mold and women there are dying from illnesses because of it. Gretchen needs to release all the women from that prison. Susan Brown can’t get back the part of her life her abusive husband and this broken justice system took from her but it can give her back what’s left.
