Protect Sarasota Bay: Deny Beruff’s No Buffer Wetland Permit

I live just north and west of this development and Tidy Island. Once the damage this wall will do to this pristine fishery is allowed there can be no repair, mitigation or replacement. Once lost we can't get it back!

This buffer is zoned as such for good reasons: to protect the structures there, to protect the wetlands within the buffer, and to protect Sarasota Bay from pollution. Do not grant a variance to this zoning because this property has always been properly so zoned, and the owners have no expectation that it would be otherwise.

Allowing the developers to do whatever they want with no regards to the environment has got to stop. They’ve already come to within an inch of other mangroves as well as state parks. What’s next? Build housing on floats in the water, build tree houses, build wherever they want and the people and especially nature take the hit. There has to be a line drawn in the sand!

All of the above statements are so eloquently written, factual, and stating the obvious what must be done to protect what little wetlands we have left. This requires no monetary, budgeting, it requires you as a decision-maker to uphold our stewardship of this area and stop what is unstoppable. There are so many things wrong with this, and problems that will be created just so the roof can build more homes and make more money. There is no need in any shape form or fashion for this to happen.
