Over growth of the community and infrastructure strain. Who pays for the upgrades of water system, sewer, power grids. Fields drain naturally, throw asphalt down and the water collects, but has to travel somewhere and it creates flooding of our neighbohoods.

Given the importance of local tourism, and the critical role our natural ecosystems and coastal areas play in that tourism, one would think protecting our vital natural resources would be a top priority. This giant development is Sarasota Bay’s last largely uninterrupted mangrove shoreline. All shoreline fronting the bay should undergo a full environmental review. There should be a permanently protected wetland buffer. There large pristine area of wetlands is home to many species, and it serves as a natural flood barrier, as well. This area should never be destroyed, filled, and considered for any development.

Developer eradication of wetlands is an incredibly short-sided route to do nothing but further line their pockets at at the demise of our local environment. The influx of home buyers & renters is a direct corellation to the quality of life Manatee County has had to offer with our sea shore, wildlife and air quality. Constant removal of our environmental attributes in Manatee County is the quickest way to creating a modern day ghost town. Say no to greed & environmental decimation.
