This mangrove coast is a critical marine habitat and very close to the historic fishing village of Cortez. I live in the area and am witness to the subject development. There is no need for this wetlands infill and barrier wall. The extent of this development is huge as it sits. Leave the mangroves alone!

The preservation of our wetlands and the wildlife should absolutely take precedence over a developers wishes. The “gabion” wall is a joke. It’s renamed to try and fit a set of parameters that may make it legal. It’s a sea wall which is prohibited. Save our wetlands!

We MUST protect the natural shoreline, the mangroves, the habitat for the long term health of Sarasota Bay. It is so insane that commissioners and planners support the destruction of the natural beauty that brought us all here.

I have lived in Sarasota and Bradenton since 1969 and have seen the destruction done by developers. If we do not protect what little we have left then what? I no longer swim in our waters due to pollution and sewage dumping.
