Mr. Beruff is what I would call a ‘shady’ land developer. In the 30 years I have lived here, he has been actively involved in pushing developments in delicate areas that actually protect the area from potential flooding. We are losing wetland areas at an alarming rate, and with the rise in people moving here it is extremely important to protect or citizens and the land from flooding! These land developers are after the almighty dollar and don’t care about the aftereffects of their design!!

Our environment is under constant threats and to add this insult to our local environment, would be unconscionable.

I own and live in Legends Bay, where Beruff still controls our HOA and we have significant mangrove coverage. NONE of the mangroves should be disturbed, yet Beruff continues to cut away at the mangroves. Hurricane Milton flooded some of our houses. Without these mangroves, such as what happened next door in Esplanade, many more homes would have flooded. DO NOT LET THIS PERSON BE IN CONTROL OF OUR MANGROVES. ENFORCE THE LAWS THAT PROTECT THE MANGROVES AND OUR HOMES.

It seems that we are allowing unfettered development locally without consideration of all the impacts both environmental and social. We must start to critically question the processes or we'll destroy everything that makes this place such a wonderful place to live, work or visit.

Over development is destroying everything we love about Florida. Allowing these developers to get richer at the expense of the home owners is criminal. We are experiencing flooding, our rivers are now so polluted that we can't swim in them. Our wild life is suffering. How much money is enough for these heartless people? Do we have to wait 20 years for our elected officials to have enough guts to say enough is enough?

We need to stop building period the animals already have nowhere to go, and it sickens me to see that. They were here long before we were and they have rights as well.

Just because you can build it doesn’t mean you need to. I would say enough with destroying mangroves. We need balance when it comes to building near the shoreline and our natural environment. I was born here 46 years ago… went to school here, bought a fixer up home in 2004 and actively fish in these same waters. Longbar has shell mounds. The amount of land being used up for new homes is insane and overwhelming. I guarantee Carlos Beruff doesn’t live in a gated community. Oh but he used too lol

Besides destroying wildlife habitat, the proposed project would also destroy a natural storm barrier which would leave the shoreline more vulnerable to rising waters and flooding.

Please stop destroying what makes this area of the country unique and beautiful. Asphalt and homes stacked on top of each other don't make you rich if you permanently take away local species that count on us to preserve them for the future. What will your children and grandkids think about only seeing pictures in a book knowing we could have prevented the extinction. Michele
