I personally feel that the school feels like it lacks life and joy, because nobody is able to go anywhere, and it feels empty. I think this is unfair, as it punishes those of us who aren't troublemakers.

This new change to the bathroom passes and free period has to be the dumbest thing that I have ever heard these passes don't actually work as I've done all the things they are supposed to prevent they don't do anything except not letting me go where I want during my free period you know damn well the school doesn't care about your safety or where you are they just want another thing hold over our heads

Requiring a doctors note for an appointment takes away parent trust and discretion. Not to mention needless copays and visits if our children arenβt feeling good and need time at home to recover.

Being in a free period with 50+ students and only 3 bathroom passes not only feels like a prison, but is dangerous for individuals with gastrointestinal issues who are refused access to bathrooms.

The stress this is causing is absolutely ridiculous! Most of the students at DHS are very hard working and under immense pressure as it is. There have not been extreme behavior issues in the past and our kids need time to breathe during the day and talk with friends to unwind before continuing the rigorous school day. Now I have a senior and we are absolutely struggling trying to find enough days to visit colleges, still celebrate holidays and not lose a parking spot!

Iβve spent over two and a half years at Deerfield, and despite the minimal underlying security concerns of open hallways and an open cafe, the mental health benefits of being able to relax during a free period without worrying about hall passes, or just grabbing a warm coffee during a hard, long day canβt be ignored. These new policies leave me and many other students feeling trapped and uncomfortable. Reform the policy now!
