Paul Walker was a huge inspiration to me and many others of my generation as a jazz educator. Some of the finest musical memories I have of my high school years were directed by Mr. Walker at Clarion University music camps. When you get to play the Maynard Ferguson arrangement of Hey Jude in a high school jazz band, the guy running it not only knows what he’s doing musically, but he’s cool as a fan. Thanks Mr. Walker.

Paul Walker gave me my first instrumental lesson in 4th grade and over the years, helped me to develop an appreciation for every type of music: classical, popular, rock, and especially jazz. He gave hundreds of Northern Cambria graduates the opportunity to participate in a high-quality music program. Mr. Walker was an excellent band director from the day he stepped into the position. He was eager designing routines and making sure you knew your music. He was loved serving the community with the band and their expertise and taking the band to competitions. Concert seasons were always very beautiful. He used the lessons he learned from his mentor Dr. Jon Woods.
