Dr G started several academic and experience-based college programs when he recognized need in the community—for example, the carpentry apprenticeship program, founded when recovery from a local hurricane’s
recovery effort was hampered by a lack of qualified carpenters. Brilliant! A. Full-fledged nursing program was established when Dr G’s Attention was drawn to a critical, Keys-wide shortage of nurses .terminating this gifted, hard-working man would create an irreparable black hole Keys-wide.

I do not sign. Dr. Gueverra's stupid plan to pave 3.7 acres of sensitive Big Pine Key land, next to Key Deer National Wildlife Refuge, trapping protected Key Deer on the land for months, mistreating Big Pine Key residents as country bumpkins, in order to build a semi-truck driving school & training track is wrong, illegal & ill-advised. He secretly pursued this, not telling Big Pine residents what was up, ignoring laws and that tax-funded building plans require continuous, open community input.

He’s a wonderful president of CFK. I’ve had the opportunity to have lunch with him and others at the Upper Keys campus, and he’s one of the most down-to-earth people you’ll ever meet. He leads the college with genuine care for both the students and the community.

We finally have a community college we can be proud of, and statewide partisan politics has no business interfering in that.

Dr. G has been instrumental in bringing this College to a 4-year institution. He is an excellent fund raiser and advocate for the College. He is an outstanding example or the CFK students.

Dr. G knows every name in the room. Students, staff, community leaders — 14 years of showing up, listening, building real relationships. He still teaches. He still sweats the small stuff. That's why he's the most effective president CFK has ever had.

Based on what I know, Dr. G has accomplished significant goals in the improving what college offers to the students of Monroe County. It appears this is strictly a political move versus of a actual issue that required this type of action.

It is outrageous that a group of recently-appointed political sock puppets without any academic experience are trying to oust an educator who has transformed the institution he serves, and should continue to serve.

As an eight year chair of the board, I can easily say.you will be hard pressed to find anyone who can accomplish what Dr. G accomplished, and has in his vision for the future.

Dr.Gueverra is the heart of the College of the Florida Keys and a beacon of hope. I am an alumna and I recall the president walking around campus to encourage students and offer assistance. Dr.G made a strong impact on my college career, and it wouldn’t have been the same without him. The improvements that have taken place under his leadership make students proud to attend and call ourselves an alumni. The college needs a president like him who cares about both the campus and it’s students.
