We moved here 21 years ago because of the rural lifestyle. We were tired of sticking our elbows out and hitting our neighbors. We love that our land is ours with no one monitoring every little thing we do. We love that we can have animals if we choose, or whatever we want to do on OUR property.

As a former resident of Surprise who escaped the population and crime explosion by moving to Wittmann, I am familiar with what the encroachment of Surprise will bring to the rural nature of our community. The residents of Wittmann deserve to retain the environment we have enjoyed and the only means we have to protect our quality of life is by incorporating. A friendly, cooperative relationship with the town of Wittmann, or a contentious relationship with an angry group of citizens. Your choice!

I believe Wittmann deserves the chance to incorporate and have more say about what happens in Wittmann. Those leading this initiative have done research into the funding available from federal tax monies, which are now being received by Maricopa County, and the costs of operating as a town. Wittmann residents prefer the rural life and want to preserve that, which is the reason they moved here.
