Objective
We respectfully request Kerala Technological University (KTU) to remove the year-back requirement for students of the 2023 batch and allow them to continue their academic progression while clearing pending subjects through supplementary examinations.
About the Petition
The current year-back regulation can result in students losing an entire academic year due to a few pending subjects. This creates academic, financial, and career-related challenges while delaying graduation and future opportunities.
We believe that students should be given a fair opportunity to progress with their batch while fulfilling all academic requirements.

Year back in engineering is not ideal. A person might have few failed credits due to several other issues. This will break their confidence and dim their dreams.
Year back system could be a cruel practice that could significantly break the credibility and value of a student's degree and their career and could even potentially break the spirits of the students to pursue higher education. This system could lead to higher dropout rates also. I sincerely urge the authorities to cancel this system for the 2023 students.
Many of us are doing our best to balance our studies with part-time jobs and life responsibilities. Pausing a student's life for a whole year over a few missed credits causes severe mental exhaustion and heavy financial stress. We respectfully ask our university to guide us forward instead of holding us back.

Losing one full year because of a few backlogs is too harsh. Give students a chance to continue with their batch and clear pending subjects through supplementary exams. We are ready to put in the effort—please don’t make us lose an entire year.
