My time spent at Camp Michigamme was while serving our Lord with the Superiorland Emmaus. I was saddened when I received this petition. While I recognize that there are challenges for the camp to remain open, I also see that there are those that are forming plans and working hard for it to succeed. I would hope that the Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church would allow their members the ability to preserve this camp for the next generations.

I was a board member of the camp for a period of 3 years. I believe the community can and will fine a viable way to manage and fund the continuing operation if given the opportunity to do so. If a sale is a must because the district and conference feels it must sell the property, at least allow a direct sale to occur so one as the community can relieve the district/conference of any further maintenance costs untill the sale can be completed.

I grew up in Michigamme and the camp has been there all of my life, serving as a place for young and old to pray and praise the almighty, while enjoying the beautiful outdoors and lake that our creator has created.

I worked at Camp Michigamme in high school and have nothing but fond memories of the happiness and community that was shared amongst the campers and staff. My brother was married in the chapel.

I remain deeply concerned with recent events and decisions made by the district leadership that don't seem to honor to voices of the members, like myself, who voted to deny the sale of the Camp property.

It is clear that there are many who are working hard to make camp a possibility again with our young people. Rushing to a sale without giving them the proper time to work out the details makes it look as though the hierarchy is interested more in money than our youth. Selling the property can always be an option but only as a very last resort. With all the people willing to work at a solution, this is clearly not a last-resort time.

i was a camper here as a kid, and then had returned as a counselor. This camp is a huge part of why my faith is strong today, why i continue to be part of the methodist church in every city i move to, and where many of my best memories will always be. I would hate to see it close.

I have spoken to some of those working on the plans and their passion is real. I believe they deserve the chance to try and realize this dream of continued ministry with the camp.
