Algerian students applying for Italian student visas for the 2026/2027 academic year are facing difficulties following a recent change in accepted English-language certificate requirements. IELTS appointments are extremely limited, making it impossible for many students to obtain the required test in time.
We respectfully ask the Embassy of Italy in Algiers to continue accepting previously accepted English certificates for the current 2026 visa cycle and introduce the new IELTS requirement starting with the next academic year.
We are asking for a transition period—not an exemption.

We, Algerian students admitted to Italian universities for 2026/2027, respectfully request that the Consulate: * Continue accepting previously accepted English certificates, including EnglishScore where applicable. * Apply the new requirements from 2027/2028. Due to the lack of available IELTS appointments, many students cannot meet the new requirements in time.
I confirm this by signing that the Italian consulate is changing the rules at any moment, which is disrupting the processing of our applications, including the IELTS language requirement that became mandatory after we submitted our applications and there is no slots in this time.
As an Algerian student preparing to study in Italy, this sudden change in requirements puts my visa application and academic plans at risk. Many students have already obtained previously accepted English certificates and cannot find an IELTS appointment in time. We are only asking for a fair transition period for the 2026/2027 academic year. Please consider our situation and support us.
We are eagerly waiting for our visas. It is unfair to change the requirements several times and impose strict conditions that cannot be fulfilled in such a short time. We kindly ask you to accept our application with the English Score certificate.

It is unfair to change the requirements during the same visa cycle.
