Decision Makers: International Electrotechnical Commission

1. Demand for Action

We, the undersigned residents and registered voters of Ward 25, Westonaria Borwa, hereby formally petition the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to declare a dispute and order an immediate recount, comprehensive audit, or revote for the Ward 25 local government election.

2. Grounds for Petition

This petition is brought forward based on serious irregularities observed during the voting and counting process, which undermine the democratic integrity of the election:

  • Evidence of Vote Tampering: Specific instances of ballot box interference, discrepancies in the final tally sheets versus observed votes, and procedural non-compliance at voting stations.
  • Allegations of Vote-Buying: Direct evidence and witness testimonies indicating that the declared mayoral/councillor candidate engaged in illegal financial or material inducements to influence voter choices.

3. Remedies Sought

To restore public trust and ensure a free and fair democratic outcome, we demand that the IEC:

  1. Halt the final certification of the Ward 25 election results pending a full investigation.
  2. Conduct a transparent recount of all ordinary, special, and spoiled ballots cast in Ward 25.
  3. Launch an independent forensic investigation into the specific allegations of vote-buying and electoral fraud.
  4. Nullify the result and schedule a revote if the investigation confirms systemic tampering that altered the fair outcome.

Because the cllr candidate of the MKP has been loyal to the community, safety of the residents comes first to him . The public fairly chose and we belive the ballot box was sabotaged as it was opened on the below side of the box.
