When you buy books and is finished with it you could pass it down to children whose parents are not able to afford it we need to be able to care and share

Books for school should not be expensive. They can be reused. Notebooks and workbooks need to be available to write in and take notes.

It is time for policymakers, private sector leaders, educators, and community stakeholders to work together to invest in equitable access to quality educational resources. By taking decisive action now, we can empower our youth, strengthen our communities, and build a more inclusive and prosperous future for Jamaica.

The current practice is especially harmful to those families in need, who could benefit from the access to used books. Let us put education first.

Because I know from experience what it is like for your parents not being able to get you the necessary text books you need for school because they can't afford it as well as I know what our textbooks that were provided by the school looked like and how much sometimes they were falling apart. Every child should be able to have what they need for school even if it means they have to share with each other in school.

Children and parents should not have the burden of paying for books each year when there are other options that are more cost effective. Hard cover books with separate workbooks for students to write in will allow the books to be reused each year. Parents and students should have the option to sell back books as some parents are choosing between paying for their students education and bills/meals.

The rising cost of books each year is prohibitive. Textbooks are only a part of back to school preparations. Any reduction in cost is a positive move in helping to keep education accessible.
