We, the undersigned administrative staff, respectfully request a formal review of our pay and job grading.

We are currently the only roles in the warehouse paid at National Minimum Wage, despite responsibilities that go far beyond “unskilled” work. We are essential to daily operations, compliance, supplier relations, staff training, and site safety across both buildings.

Our responsibilities include:

Customer service & warehouse flow
Greeting drivers, taking keys, assigning bays, answering queries, and acting as first point of contact for all drivers arriving on site.

Documentation & compliance
Opening/closing bookings, checking paperwork for accuracy, managing the 6-step rejection process with multiple compliance checks. Errors lead to questioning from Morrisons management and financial loss for the company. We minimize costs by catching mistakes early.

Supplier liaison, scheduling & quality control
First point of contact for all suppliers. We’re on the phone multiple times daily discussing ETAs, load plans, and unsafe stacking in trailers. We coordinate rejected stock collection and send/receive ∼4 emails weekly on pallets going to charity. We action MLOR and recall notices, plus weekly QC lists, highlighting products that must be held until QC confirms they’re safe to book in. We prevent unsafe/unsellable stock entering the warehouse.

Training & operations
Training every new starter for up to 1 month until they work independently. We ensure staff understand complex processes and compliance risks before they operate alone.

Process management & adaptability
Warehouse processes are introduced, tweaked, or removed every 4-5 weeks. We learn, adapt, and retrain ourselves and new staff during each change to maintain accuracy and avoid delays or compliance failures.

Site communications & admin support
Printing warehouse signage for safety/visitors, generating canteen price lists, laminating certificates, and printing/displaying the weekly Morrisons newsletter/brief for all colleagues.

Health & safety — Key control protocol
Managing the key captive board system. We collect driver details and signatures, take keys and place them on the correct hook, then issue bay tags to tipping colleagues. This is the final safety check that prevents vehicles moving while staff are between bay and lorry. A single error could result in serious injury or fatality. We hold direct responsibility for site safety.

Working conditions
Working full shifts in an office where temperatures frequently fall below comfortable levels, while maintaining accuracy on detailed compliance and safety tasks.

Our request:
We ask for our pay to be reviewed and adjusted to reflect the skill, responsibility, training, adaptability, and safety accountability involved in our roles. We propose £14.00 per hour to bring admin pay in line with the value we provide, and to help offset rising cost-of-living pressures in the South West.

We note the National Living Wage is £12.71/hr from April 2026. We are requesting pay above this threshold because our duties exceed the scope of minimum wage work.

We value our jobs and want to continue contributing at this level. Fair pay would reflect the work we already do every day to keep the warehouse safe, compliant, and efficient.

We work on the same rota as warehouse worker, but somehow can get the same salary as we don't have skills? During the day we doing so many different job as no one else. Our position should be paid more than warehouse workers, as our job is more responsible than anyone else.

A job that requires several months of training a new administrator and has a critical impact on daily operations shouldn't be paid at minimum wage. This is not unskilled work.

If they saw we aren't making decisions, can they spare a manager to tell us what bay the goods in can go to? Or how to correct an issue? They "ask" us to support Loading with the managers but won't give/offer an uplift. And every year the gap between minimum living wage and what base rate for pickers increases.

Ambient admins are essential to the operation. Without us, goods would not be received, as not even one manager is trained for our department.

WE ARE ON BASIC MINIMUM WAGE AND WE ARE THE FRONT OF THE LOGISTICS DEPOT AS WITHOUT US THE STOCK WOULDN'T BE BOOKED IN FOR PICK.

We deserve to be paid more than just the basic pay rate. We do a responsible job and it should be paid accordingly.
