As a runner and a homeowner in Valley Stream I would welcome a safe pathway along Livernois.

A sidewalk on the Valley Stream side of Livernois is needed for pedestrian safety, especially since there is no designated crossing to reach the sidewalk across the street. It would make it much safer for families and kids to walk to the high school, parks, and downtown Rochester without crossing the dangerous traffic on Livernois.

Extending this missing section of the proposed pathway eliminates current
potential danger by those crossing Livernois with any north/south oncoming traffic.

We love living in our area of Rochester Hills and try to utilize the parks and services available to us as much as possible. The downside is that without getting into a car or taking 3/4 mile detour currently accessing them is difficult. Livernois is very busy with a downhill crest right before our street. Drivers go too fast and we as pedestrians have to blindly run across the street because there is no safe access on west side of the street. This would do wonders for safety and accessibility.

Livernois has become a heavy traffic road and is a direct route to Rochester High School. The lack of a continuous sidewalk forces pedestrians to walk on the shoulder near moving vehicles creating a safety risk. We need to connect the sidewalk to provide a safe route.

The safety of the school children as well as any individual trying to cross Livernois in this area is paramount, and requires that the sidewalk be added.

My kids would be safer walking to school in the morning. Right now they either have to cross livernois in the middle of the road with no light, walk down the street along side traffic or have to walk all the way through the subdivision which more than quadruples their walk to school.

People fly down Livernois and with the hill on the northern side of our neighborhood it’s always hard to see when traffic is or isn’t coming. Finishing the sidewalk would make it safer to get to the crosswalk.

We have lived in Valley Stream Sub fot 36 years and watched with horror as the safety of our residents has been compromised. Please make this one change for the safety of all and especially the children.

I have given up walking from Valley Stream to the shopping areas at Walton and Livernois because over the past 40 years traffic has increased dramatically and speeds have increased as well. I do not think it is safe any longer to walk on the shoulder of Livernois. Please follow through on the existing plan to extend the path to Valley Stream
