Lake Sawyer is the worst of 3 options.
They should build on the land they own already.
If I remember correctly it would also be less completed than the other options.
That space is already heavily used for what it is and the traffic and logistics dont make sense.
If there is an option then by all means it should be one of the other options.

I live in Black Diamond (not Ten Trails) and believe the Ten Trails folks should all come together to put the Ball Parks directly in their community……NOT Lake Sawyer Regional Park.

Oak Point has done this before. They give the City money in lieu of building a project required by the Development Agreement, transferring the risk of cost overruns to the taxpayers. The money given to the City is never enough to complete the project, leaving taxpayers on the hook for the rest. The additional environmental studies and permits required to build ball fields in a sensitive area such as the LSRP will also be far more expensive than if Oak Point builds them on its own land.

Lake Sawyer Regional Park and its surrounding trails need to be preserved in their natural state. This open space is an important buffer for wildlife and provides valuable natural habitat that should be protected. Please prioritize preserving Lake Sawyer Regional Park as open space for wildlife, habitat, and the community to enjoy hiking, dog walking, and horseback riding.

We need to protect our natural resources. Folks in black diamond live in this town for the small town, rural landscape, and endless nature. Oakpointe needs to put these ballparks on land they have committed to develop. Do not develop on lake sawyer regional park. This park needs to be protected.

Our habitat at Lake Sawyer should be maintained for the salmon, the elk, the bears, and the birds. For our environment as a whole, for the green space that our community regularly hikes and fishes. Fri limit erosion. For the health of our community and for our children! The ball fields should go on land that has already been cleared by Oakpointe.

I walk our community 2-3 miles per day and the experience at Lake Sawyer is unlike anything else in Black Diamond. Preserve the serenity and natural beauty of Lake Sawyer while also respecting the private property owners at the lake. Improvements can be made at Lake Sawyer to enhance what we currently enjoy, but ball fields are in stark contrast to the current use. Preserve tranquility, watersheds, and animal habitats while also maintaining lands which provide passive outdoor opportunities.

What was / is the plan for the gravel pit? Who owns that? Would it work for ball fields? How much parking is anticipated to acccompany how many ball fields of what type? What area ball fields resemble the size of what Oakpointe is obligated to build? Is it Ravensdale ball fields size or Wilson playfields in Kent?

Over the last 25 years I have watched as Black Diamond has grown and disregarded environmental impacts and the resulting affects the developments have had. None of it has been good. We are now suffering from over crowded road ways, poor infrastructure and the destruction of natural habitat. All in the name of more tax revenue for the city. We no longer have a nice small town that people like to visit. We are just another part of Seattle.

I love the thought of having a place for kids to play ball, but that should fall within the Oakepoint property they already own. Keep your hands off parks!

There are so many reason why they should not build within the park, outlined in this petition, and I agree with them all. The residents of Black Diamond should not lose a precious resource due to the Ten Trails owners' greed.
