The U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled that "noise" ordinances cannot be utilized to ban live music, specifically. This would be a blatant violation of Free Speech as protected under the 1st Amendment. To put a decibel cap for *volume level* is permitted, if hours for the restriction are specified and *reasonable*, but do make sure you're allowing and enforcing equally. Remember, a lawn mower may be louder than a live band... Beware the witch hunt against Free Speech, Delmar!!

Keep the Arts alive, music being one of them. Why let one business owner, that’s not a resident, have any say in this.

Because this proposed change is brought forth as a result of a vindictive competitor who has made it a mission to alter the success path of a competing business...not because the community is complaining. That's just wrong. The Groove has brought a life and a spark to the town of Delmar that people can be proud of..it's a community gathering space and Doug Marshall has poured heart, soul and an insane number of hours bringing a very cool place to Delmar. Its unethical to let this go forward.

Part of what makes a community special is the freedom to gather, celebrate, and enjoy life. I don’t believe we need more rules restricting everyday activities. Neighbors should be able to communicate, compromise, and respect one another without unnecessary government involvement.

Live music gives people a place to gather, enjoy an evening out, and support local musicians and businesses. It adds character to our community and is an important part of what makes The Groove a place people want to visit. Losing that entertainment could affect the restaurant, the musicians who perform there, and the customers who enjoy it.
