A string of four hot days is all that's needed to have maggots crawling all over the fermenting garbage, spreading disease and stench in our city. Not to mention the heavy weight of a 96 gallon container filled with garbage. There are many seniors in Clifton, how do you expect them to haul these massive dumpsters to the curb?

It would really be great to increase recycling to weekly (like in Passaic and most cities I know.) and it would cut down on excess bulk garbage from those who don’t recycle due to lack of space to store excess recyclables. Plz consider that as well. I have a baby in diapers and a large family. Once weekly garbage pick up would just be horrific… please keep twice weekly garbage pick up! Thank you for your consideration! Also we pay almost the highest taxes and don’t get any education benefit….

Dear Members of the Clifton City Council,
Reducing garbage collection to once a week is more than an inconvenience. It creates a sanitation problem for our neighborhoods.
Garbage left sitting for seven days, particularly during the summer, quickly produces foul odors and attracts rats, raccoons, insects, and other wildlife. For families producing ordinary household waste, overflowing cans and torn garbage bags could easily become a regular sight on residential streets.

2 weeks is pefect...right when it feels like the boxes are piling up its time to go...when more time passes it becomes overwhelming and we cannot store it outside

Asking families to pay 6.5% more on top of already sky-high property taxes while cutting garbage pickup to once a week is completely unacceptable. Residents should receive basic, adequate sanitation - it’s not a luxury. One cart a week simply will not hold enough garbage for many families. What exactly are we supposed to do with the rest?

We strongly feel that garbage collection should remain twice a week. With many large families in the community, once-a-week collection would not be sufficient and could quickly lead to an overflow of garbage. Maintaining twice-weekly pickup is important for keeping our blocks clean, sanitary, and pleasant for all residents.

It’s 2026 butGod forbid we get to get rid of our garbage so much antisemitism so much going on and they take away our garbage this is a terrible tragedy for the community and we need to do better this is bigger then an issue and we need to fix this now let me go to bed in peace can’t sleep at night knowing my garbage only gets picked up once a week so please help me go back to bed sincerely Demetrius
