Petition text (paste this)

We ask the United States Postal Service to issue a commemorative stamp honoring Dolly Parton for her music, her service, and the Imagination Library.

Dolly Parton is one of America’s most important songwriters and performers. Her work is part of the national songbook. Through the Imagination Library she has put books in the hands of millions of children. She has also given time and resources to disaster relief, public health, and the people of Appalachia.

A postage stamp is how this country marks people who helped define American life. Honoring Dolly Parton would recognize lasting work, not celebrity alone.

We therefore petition the Postmaster General and the Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee to approve a commemorative stamp honoring Dolly Parton, her music, and childhood literacy. We ask the President and Congress to support that request.

If current rules limit stamps that portray a living person, we ask USPS to issue a thematic stamp clearly associated with Dolly Parton until an individual commemorative is allowed.

Respectfully submitted by the undersigned.

Our family has benefited from the imagination library. Our children are excited to receive a book every month and the content of the books teaches good values. Dolly lived the embodiment of her Christian values in a way that I wish many others who claim to be part of Christianity would seek to emulate. She was the change that she wished to see in the world.

Dolly was not only beautiful inside and out with an Angel's voice she also gave so much of her earnings to so many organizations along with sending over 2 million books to children everywhere. She was indeed America's precious angel.
