I have to take my mother to hospital appointments regularly (JR) and it is so stressful to park. Three years ago I had need to rush to jr for my dying father and I was so stressed and I couldn’t park and ended up righting off my car in the process to get to him.

I am at the hospitals a few times a month and the bus takes three hours. Parking needs to be a priority. I am disabled and use mobility aids. The stress of the car parking situation should not be happening this day and age.

Illness is stressful enough without having to worry about if you’re going to be able to park, how long it will take you to find a space and even if you can find one. And what if you end up being late for your appointment………. So stressful

My husband and I have used the hospitals increasingly as we are getting older. My husband has had both knees replaced and we live in a rural area with limited public transportation. Logistically getting him on the bus after his surgeries would have been impossible. I now have vision problems and use Oxford eye hospital and getting the bus would be very hard and would take up a whole day with timings etc as the bus doesn’t run very regularly.

It is so Obvious a multistory car park is needed.

The lack of parking is incredibly stressful. It’s not practical to go to the Park and Ride if you are very unwell or if you have elderly disabled people to transport to the hospital. People are late for appointments because it takes so long to park. If you have to attend A and E you won’t be able to go on a bus. If you have received a phone call and been asked to get to the hospital quickly as a loved one’s health has deteriorated the last thing you need is to wait for ages to park your car.

I often have to ask relatives and friends to take me to see consultants at the JR and the Churchill. I am aware of the stress that I and they have, trying to find a parking space. There is pressure to get there much earlier to get a vacant place. I now have a blue badge but the stress of finding a parking space still continues. I am also upset by the fact that the staff have to pay for their parking. Who are the people who make these decisions and add stress to their staff.

When you have to travel from a rural location for hospital treatment and there is no-one who can drive you, it is incredibly stressful trying to find a parking place. The car park gets gridlocked and despite allowing an extra hour on every journey time, I have still been late for appointments.

Got a parking ticket as parked on double yellow lines with my blue badge on display as I couldn’t get parked anywhere else.
Disgusting really.

The JR Hospital has had a serious parking problem for years, yet little has been done to address it.
A pre-fabricated, modular multi-storey car park could have been installed years ago, providing hundreds of additional spaces quickly while a permanent solution was developed. With limited land available, building upwards would have made far better use of the space.
Patients, visitors and staff should not have to waste time driving around looking for parking or risk being late for appointments

I have had to go to both the JR and Churchill hospitals to get both my mum and dad for appointments and operations, my brother who was having cancer treatment plus my partner who recently was involved in a car accident. For all of these, having the extra pressure of trying to find a parking space makes a stressful situation so so much worse. Something needs to be done soon. No more talking about it. We need action. Now!

Why would any company want to add to the trauma of going to hospital by not providing adequate parking so stressful and sad

When i was due to give birth to my baby it was impossible for my partner to park the car. Mon-fri the car parks are already full by 8am. Going to necessary appointments is stressful and impossible still after a certain time but when i needed our car to get us to the hospital due to being in labour and to leave with a car seat and the right comfort after my emergency c section…a bus isnt appropriate for most important things like accidents, emergencies, surgeries and appointments

Mode of transport is the patients choice! An elderly person cant always take the bus. A person suffering anxiety finds a bus route difficult too. Stop dictating to people.

Because the last few times I have had to come to the JR have been for emergency appointments with my children and I’ve had to drive and parking has been a nightmare. A multi-storey car park is desperately needed.
