The lack of parking spaces adds a huge amount of stress to what is already a really stressful time. People dealing with cancer diagnosis / treatment shouldn't be reduced to tears because they can't find a parking space which is making them late for their appointment (even when they gave themselves plenty of time). Parking at BOTH John Radcliffe AND Churchill needs to have a lot more spaces...

Anyone who is poorly enough to be going to either of these hospitals doesn't need the stress of trying to get there. It's very heartless at the moment.

When I had a broken ankle and had to hop with a frame, I always had to pay for a taxi as there was no way we could park close enough to the door-or indeed park anywhere. Because the access road is single lane and always jammed from the car parks a taxi was the only way to arrive on time. When my husband was dying in JR2 it took me ages driving round and round looking for a space so that I could be with him-that's not humane. A large car park of some description is absolutely vital.

This is urgent and necessary; hospital visits are stressful enough without additional anxiety about parking.

Parking is an absolute nightmare and at a time when you are particularly stressed.

I’ve used the JR multiple times in the last few years and car parking adds significantly to the stress in often the worst circumstances. Often access is needed quickly to the hospital

Complete lack of available parking makes attending appointments unnecessarily difficult, especially for the elderly.

Having to take my elderly, infirm husband to regular appointments at both hospitals causes huge stress over parking availability.

Having available parking spaces would reduce stress and anxiety for people arriving for appointments and worried about not being seen if late (particularly given the length of time some will have been waiting to be given an appt), reduce missed appointments for the Health Authority, and improve traffic as cars will not be backing up onto the highway, causing hold ups.

Because having queued for a parking space st the Nuffield for 2 hours, The Churchill 90 minutes and The JR for 90 mins, all three of which has not been long enough and i have either been late or had to cancel my appt based on the fact i was late (i need a disabled space), it is beyond ridiculous that you do nothing about the parking nightmare. Not all of us can use public transport.

Living alone I find any hospital appointment is extremely stressful. Leaving enough time for both traffic and finding a car park space. Going to hospital is stressful enough without the added stress of parking. I've driven round for up to 3/4 hr trying to find a space with restricted movement as people in desperation park outside of the bays. Park and Ride would be an option if there was increased capacity and a shuttle bus direct to the hospitals.

When I was pregnant I had hypermesis gravediun (HG). This was chronic sickness and vomiting meaning I couldn’t take a bus. My husband missed 2 baby scans even though we arrived an hour early and because he was going round the car park looking for a space, we also had to pay. Because the women’s centre is on site, there needs to be better parking facilities for vulnerable pregnant women and their babies.

Because I’ve been late for appointments sitting in a parking queue at the JR many times. Plus parking for A&E is often full which is inadequate. I could get H5 bus but I need to ge dropped at bus stop and that service isn’t regular enough and often full.

In the 80s hospital parking was free! It had dedicated parking for staff. All free! Why has this changed? All patients should also have easy and cheaper parking. We do not go to hospital for fun! It’s a necessity so let’s make it easier for all!

These hospitals are serving a wide expanse of residential areas that is increasing its population with more housing being built in the area. Public transport doesn’t serve every purpose that arises for patients getting to and fro. It’s obvious we will need better parking facilities.

Lack of parking at hospitals is so very stressful, particularly for those who are already unwell and those worried about loved ones…
