Because I take my 90 year old mother there and it’s a nightmare to park!!
And my husband, both for the hart department, need family or friends to take us and drop off, as both have problems walking far!!!

There have been many times my family and friends have struggled to find parking! One son almost missed the birth of his child due to not being able to park- not to mention not being able to support his wife at the end stages of labour!! On occasion I have not been able to accompany very elderly relatives into an appointment due to waiting for a parking space… also the way blue badge Parker’s have to validate their parking seems to necessitates walking backwards and forwards!! 🤦♀️

Trying to park there is a nightmare for people with a blue badge, my husband has to leave me parked at the side of the hospital entrance in my wheelchair while he tries to find somewhere to park often having to go out of the hospital, then he has to walk back from there, he is nearly 80 years old and I am 82, there seems to be no consideration for people with a blue badge

Just before Covid, I missed the death of my Mother (who died alone) because the car park was full!
I’m sure I’m not the only one who had experienced this.
It must be even worse

I attend the JR regularly as both an out-patient and a community care volunteer driver. The appointment times are such that the hospital is inevitably extremely busy. Consequently I am often unable to find parking at these times. The people from the community I take often have difficulty walking so I need to be nearby to pick them up and take them back home.

The parking at these hospitals need improving because looking for spaces has meant adding time and stress to appointments.

I have noticed recently how much busier the Oxford Parkway car park has become, with very limited space in the afternoon.

I have had both parents on palliative care and had to attend multiple departments at the JR and Churchill hospitals over the last 3 years for hundreds of appointments, most times finding a disabled car parking space is an added stress we don't need. Last Thursday, I took my dad for an appointment, but spent 60 minutes waiting for a disabled parking space and missed the appointment by 30 minutes with no space appearing and went home instead and that's common.

It is often stressful enough going to a hospital without the added stress of not getting a parking space.

Patients need more parking. Most patients attending hospital are unable to
Access public transport because of illness/ health issues.n That is the reason for attending hospital appts etc.
Visitors can travel by public transport as their health should enable them to do so.
