Soccer in general has a point system on place for a reason. In the event that a game is still tied at the conclusion of regulation play, during the regular season its a tie. Both teams are awarded 1 point and move on to the next game. PKs are used to settle post season games because they CANNOT end in a tie. This will eliminate the pulling a name from a cup or hat or whatever has been used to determine who gets to play. I wish I had more characters to keep going..

It’s important to have a fair, consistent and defendable system for the playoffs. I understand it’s only middle school, but the kids deserve every effort we can make.

My nephew plays and got 'swindeled" out of the playoffs. These kids could have one more chance. Who doesn't love a wildcard team at the end?

Hello, I wanted to share some feedback regarding the tie-breaker rules. Relying on drawing a name from a hat to break a competitive stalemate feels deeply unfair to the players who have spent months training. In a competitive tournament environment, advancement should always be decided by performance metrics….like head-to-head results, goal differential, or a penalty shootout. A random lottery undercuts the sporting integrity of the competition.

The decision to draw a name out of a hat for the tiebreaker for a playoff game seems under thought at best. As an avid soccer spectator at all levels, I have not seen a tiebreaker settled in this way. The methodical way is primarily goal differential at every level. Kids invest an abundance of time at practice and games, along with training on their own and deserve to know that the district puts effort into their efforts and sport.

Our school worked incredibly hard this season, especially after going two years without winning a single game. These players fought hard and truly earned the opportunity to compete in the playoffs. To have their hard work dismissed by a name drawn from a cup is absolutely disappointing. At the very least, these teams deserved the opportunity to settle the fourth-seed playoff position on the field. I had hoped the decision would be reconsidered, but I sincerely hope this petition brings change.
