This has directly affected our family. An untrained and inexperienced intern was given the power to remove children from their parents. This intern did not even do the most most basic steps of an investigation. It has taken 2 years, countless court hearings and alot of money to finally get the kids back home. The only abuse these kids have endured is the psychological abuse from dcfs from being torn from their home.

DCFS has let my students and my friends down. They have not investigated situations when we had evidence that could prove abuse of some kind. I know of situations where they have investigated abuse and did not do a thorough investigation and missed obvious evidence of abuse. I also know there have been other times they did not do a proper investigation and assumed there was something wrong and there wasn’t.

I firmly believe this outcome could have been avoided had our case been handled by a properly trained Child Protection Specialist. If Illinois DCFS hopes to regain even a measure of public trust, the people of Illinois deserve assurance that the agency will be held accountable.
