The police Dept. have enough duties as Regular Police Officers. To place duties as ICE personal distracts the police officers from their regular duties and our safety as regular local citizens.

Local police should not be beholden to a Federal Agency that uses questionable methods. Although the extra money/equipment sound nice, taking it will make the police start losing decision making authority.

ICE has a recent history of cruelty and ignores due process.

We don’t need ICE here. However, ICE doesn’t terrorize communities. Things go wrong when people interfere, ignore, or drive toward ice agents. Also, families being “torn apart” are a result of entering illegally. The parents understood the risk completely, so blame on the agency is ignorant. Think of Laken Riley’s family and others that were left devastated. There must be a line drawn for who can enter for domestic security. The US will always welcome immigrants - legal ones.

It is important that our local community be able to decide what best serves the wellbeing of residents, not be enticed with an outside agenda that could undermine trust in the long term

ICE in the community would jeopardize our safety and comfort and create particular stress for SU students of color and from other nations.

It’s a corrupt government system and it costs the taxpayers more money.

This is not the role of a local police force. It will not make Selinsgrove any safer.

Please, please Selinsgrove do not let this happen. This is the most horrible thing I have seen yet come to our area. You have no idea what you’re doing to approve this! Please stop!!!!!

ICE has acted like an out-of-control and unaccountable hostile force in other communities, and we need to say loud and clear that we do not accept that.

To local law enforcements and town councils the money is enticing but I urge them to not betray their residents trust for dollar signs.

The local police force has a good standing in the community. Adding the fear of ICE tactics will damage community/police relations.

I am a resident of Selinsgrove who has family who fought to have residency and citizenship in the U.S. Bringing ICE into Selinsgrove is unnecessary, as ICE terrorizes and profiles families of color who are just trying to live peacefully.

ICE is traumatizing generations of immigrants and costing communities their work force, their friends, and neighbors. Money should be spent fixing the broken immigration system, not locking up law-abiding hard-working residents who contribute to our local economy and help us build the future.

Selinsgrove does not have an immigration problem in the slightest. This is just an excuse for the police force to gain absolute immunity. And the “possibility” of getting a new cruiser which is unnecessary.

These agreements that are being made between our local police and the government are an example of extreme overreach by our federal government. We are experiencing as a country a move away from representative government to an authoritarian one that is set on punishing all that disagree or do not capitulate. Very dangerous times

Our policemen do a fine job and do not need to be controlled by anyones personal army. We have values and morals in this community and we want to keep them. No amount of money (that they probably won’t see a penny of) should tempt anyone to cross the line of what is right and what our constitution guarantees us.
