Decision Makers: Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology

We, the Engineering students of KNUST, are united in demanding the immediate release of GESA election results from voting held on Wednesday and are also demanding the immediate reversal of any directive to disqualify candidates in the just ended GESA Elections.

Students voted on Wednesday. A winner was decided. But till today, the Deputy Director of Students Affairs has withheld the results and announced disqualification of candidates after voting ended.

Why we are signing:
1. You cannot disqualify candidates after students have voted. That is not due process. That is voter suppression.

2. We have a right to know the outcome of an election we participated in. Withholding results destroys trust in student leadership.

3. If DOSA can cancel Wednesday’s vote today, they can cancel any student election tomorrow. GESA today. Others tomorrow.

4. If there are concerns, KNUST and GESA constitutional procedures exist. Arbitrary disqualification sets a dangerous precedent for future elections across campus. The Directorate of Students Affairs (DOSA) should know better.

5. We will not allow backdoor decisions to decide who represents us.

Our Demand

We call on the Directorate of Students Affairs, the GESA EC, and all relevant stakeholders to:

1. Uphold the integrity of the electoral process

2. Without delay, declare the GESA Elections Results.

3. Address any grievances through the laid-down constitutional channels.

We showed up. We voted. We deserve to know the outcome and our choice must be respected.

I hate nonsense, let the GESA EC know that. I don't want to take this into another realm. I don't get why voters should finish voting before you declare disqualification of a candidate

Ah how can I leave my hostel and come and vote when I don’t have class and you’re telling me you’ve held the results. What if I had accident on my way. You couldn’t have just told us earlier before the elections so that I’ll sleep

We students voted for who we wanted, you can just hold up election results because of a rally. Such incidents have been going on, even the current president had a rally the night before his election. They should announce our President for us

What the EC is claiming to be a misconduct which both parties well involved could have be investigated earlier before going ahead to conduct the election , you don't wait for students to give their mandate only for you to come and say the candidates were involved in misconduct , GESA EC should be bold enough to state the misconduct they were engaged in , without it their claims are bogus and even possibly fraudulent. Such an irresponsible EC .

We deserve to know who the majority trust to lead and who won. If there was a breach, we should have known before we left our various lives to come vote. If voting has been done then results must be announced
