Cause the university shouldn't constantly take funds away from students in order to fund their own agendas. The student fees are for US to help with OUR needs. They can start taking it when THEY start paying for everything to the point we don't need charity

UNSA is one of the very few good UoN initiatives. It has benefitted me in countless ways. Cheap and free food, social events and is responsible for most of the clubs. Diverting $2m away from UNSA will be the nail in the coffin of this declining University.

The student union is an imperative part of university culture. Defunding it is an attack on student wellbeing.

My personal experience is that UNSA -the way it is, is like the breathing life of UON. I want to be at uni more because of UNSA. It is a place of connection. It makes studying more doable through connecting students and building a welcoming and supportive presence on campus, it amplifies voices of UON SERVICES making them more visible to students, it fuels student engagement through events, clubs and societies. I love it. I can not imagine UON without UNSA. It is the pride of UON.

Because I've only had good expirence with ansa and having the adminstrative part of Newcastle uni take charge in a more personal helpful side of the uni would be annoying, I've already had bad expirneces with adminstrative decisions of the main campus being a student from Ourimbah so independent support seems necessary

UNSA provides services that have directly positive impacts on the welfare of UoN students, in addition to advocacy as an independent body. That independence is imperative! The students (as the heart and FINANCIAL BACKBONE of UoN) deserve a strong, genuinely independent voice. The proposed funding (and more, frankly) should continue to be directed to UNSA, ensuring access to the support, advocacy and community services that this independent body already provides.

Incorporating a UNSA alternative directly into the UoN ecosystem will strip away and meaningful autonomy. Having no plan in place to follow on stifles ongoing student voices.

I hate institutions pulling unnecessary moves and making everything a headache instead of just utilising the resources they already have. UNSA is great and we don't need anything starving it from giving back to students in serious need of relief and support

Student-led student services are vital for student mental and physical wellbeing.
Taking this away takes away the voice and democratic power of the student community.

UNSA should still be in charge of the student fee revenue streams to ensure the initiatives that had exist to continue running over the next few years

As a student that is living independently away from home, UNSA provides myself and my roommate with so many opportunities to make new friends, as well as significantly relieving our financial burden and keeping us healthy with their food initiatives.
