UON alumna here. Student lifestyle and uni clubs were the most memorable part of my university experience. This proposal makes no sense and has potential to diminish what's already thriving.

Because it is dystopian and absolutely intolerable to remove a student association from a place of learning.

There is a deep logical absurdity and incongruity in asking UNSA and the clubs it serves to operate in a democratic and transparent fashion, while attempting to mandate changes such as this in such an undemocratic and non-transparent fashion.
It is blatantly unacceptable hypocrisy and reflects poorly on the reputation and leadership of such a deeply important institution.
Those attempting to push these changes should know better. For shame.

This is SO important. To students to have a safe space that dedicates meaningful community based events is so important.

Students deserve genuine independent representation, not a university-controlled duplicate that diverts student fee revenue into startup administrative costs.

diverting funding from UNSA to a new club that has not yet been established and will likely take some time to get off the ground and figure out how they can actually run and help students will only cause loss of student funding towards clubs and events hosted by UNSA which provide amazing opportunities for students to socialise, access subsidised food and activities and much more.

Unsa is maybe the only real student run body that actually does something positive for UON the people in charge of the uni should be awarding more funding not less. Uni is already too expensive

It is integral for ÜNSA to maintain its current budget to maintain the events, building and facilities necessary for creating a space to form community and ease the burdens of a university workload.

We already pay the university enough, use our money for supporting current organisations!! Not ones that haven’t even been trailed or tested yet!! Keep student funding in student hands!!

An independent, not-for-profit students’ association on campus like UNSA has been instrumental in my positive experiences of uni. A second, similar association would be detrimental to UON and its support of students.

UNSA is undoubtedly the life blood of student life and culture at UoN. As a club executive I see first hand what good UNSA does for students, campus culture, student retention, and overall wellbeing. I want more than anything to stay onboard and continue the legacy of our club, but with how uncertain the future is between unclear funding and governance models, this future is not looking certain at all.
