As the parent of a student who receives special education services, I’ve seen firsthand how critical these supports are for my child’s education, independence, and future. Reducing staff means reducing opportunities for students who already face significant challenges. Please protect these essential services so every child has the support they need to succeed.

Special education isn't just for the kids with an IEP. Every kid and every teacher benefits when kids who need these supports get them. We all want to say that we wouldn't discriminate against those who are born with a different brain or body. But if we pull resources from these kids it's clear we don't mean what we say.

I have friends and loved ones who work in sp ed, and several children who rely on these services. Removing resources from these programs will harm the students who need the most support.

I am an LCSW who works with people in crisis and often respond to schools. I see the need in schools for more support for this vulnerable population. I am also a mom of neurodiverse kids who struggled to have their needs met in the Utah public school system.

My son struggled from school to school until he found this one. I am so grateful.

My nephew has gained so much help from these government funded program’s I can’t believe how much benefit he has received from them. I hope they can continue to support people that really need help. Please continue helping the disabled people of our community.

My husband is a SpEd Paraprofessional, and they’ve already taken away full-time Para positions, and now they’re forcing Para’s to go from 29-hour workdays to 20-hours or less! No one can financially survive on that!

I am signing this petition because I believe our students with special needs deserve the support and resources necessary to succeed. Proposed cuts to special education services raise serious concerns about student outcomes and parent trust, and I want to advocate fo protecting these essential programs.

As a parent of a child with a rare genetic disorder, I know the value of therapeutic interventions in the classroom. I also know that Special Ed is already underfunded, resulting in fewer service hours and 1:1 aides for the children who desperately need them to make it through the school day. I’m confident the district can find less valuable places to make cuts. It truly takes a village to raise and educate these vulnerable children, and we parents greatly appreciate the community’s support!
