These students take a lot of time and effort to teach properly and good teachers are hard to come by. Don’t make their job even harder by giving them more students without help. My sister is one of these teachers and was just let go because the student count was too low for 3 teachers to be employed. now I know why. make it right!

Besides the fact that my nephew benefits heavily from special needs education programs, it’s part of our obligation to provide quality education experiences that fully benefit EVERY student. It’s what we pay taxes for. Special needs students often receive a less full experience in their peers already, and further cuts will severely limit their opportunities for growth. Please do not do this.

Our children should not bear the consequences of an administrative error. Missing 1,000 special education students in official reporting is a massive failure, but cutting teachers and paraprofessionals to cover it up is unacceptable. Special education services and IEP minutes are legally mandated rights, not line items to be trimmed. Granite School District must use its substantial financial reserves to stabilize this budget immediately and ensure our schools are fully staffed for 2026 - 2027.

Utah and Granite School District is already dramatically underfunded in our Special Education and disability resources. This is absolutely unacceptable and the consequences should NOT be laid on the children or already over-laden teachers and staff!!!

Because a lot of special kids need and deserve full attention by trained teachers the whole time they are at school. They should not have to suffer because the Granite District cannot allocate their funds appropriately. Fix this issue now or there will be repercussions from the people that care about the children.

Our special Ed teams are already spread so thin I don’t know that they can even exist now. At the Jr high level my daughter would be feed to the wolves if she didn’t have Mrs Latham giving her the little extra help she needs.

I have a grandson with Down Syndrome. He is 8 years old and lives in Illinois. He has a full time one on one aid paid for by the state of Illinois. His dad just finished his medical residency and they have chosen to stay in Illinois and not return to Utah because they know they will never get those kind of services for their little boy in Utah. Funding for special needs children should be top priority in Granite District!

My son went to Rowland Hall and it was a perfect school for him. My grandson is barely on the spectrum and we started him at Rowland Holland an early age. It was a disaster. We then sent him to Driggs elementary where he is thriving. The special retention and perfect teaching has made him thrive. The comparison between private and public education in our experience is worth millions! . Please consider funding these programs.

I hope the district is able to pull funds from somewhere else to cover this. It is unbelievable that an error would cause people helping the children who need it most to lose their job.
