I work with special education kids in another district, and have seen firsthand how good staff and support staff can make a difference in their success in school. Their funding is VITAL to the success of those students and those around them. Budget cuts should not be something that undermines student success…or why bother with education?

It’s the most important thing to do as a society. I work with this population, and they should have our first attention at hand! Also my son was in an inclusive Kinder classroom that was cancelled, and was amazing for him. That should not be happening.

There are many people around us in the world my age that need help and suffer from mental or physical disabilities. I want them to get the same education that I get with a fair amount of teachers and can help them get a good job in the future. Human rights is very important to me and I understand that others around me learn and think differently. Everyone is special in their own way and we should not affect how they learn with less teachers and less opportunities that we get.

Never wise to cut services for children. Special Needs students need those additional funds. We give to sports & gifted programs but sacrifice the needs of those who require more assistance

Reducing special ed teachers and paraprofessionals stretches the remaining staff too thin. It forces Special Ed teachers to manage large, complex classrooms without help. Federal law mandates that schools must provide the exact number of spec ed instruction hours outlined in each student's IEP. Even with strategic staff reassignments those numbers can't be reached. Students should not bear the consequences of administrative paperwork errors.
