As a Speech-Language Pathologist in Granite, and I know firsthand that special education programs are already stretched thin and supporting increasingly complex student needs. These proposed cuts would be catastrophic and unsustainable, jeopardizing students’ access to the services and supports they are legally entitled to receive. We cannot continue asking schools to do more with less when our most vulnerable students are the ones who bear the consequences.

I retired from Granite School District 7 years ago after teaching 30 years. Many of those years were spent in Special Education. At that time, it was very difficult to meet the needs of our Special Needs children. I was often needed in 2 spots at the same time and was unable to be in the general education classroom with Special Education students to serve them well. I cannot imagine any more cuts to Special Education and still be able to meet their needs. Please restore the funding.
